A CNBC reporter sought advice from Hillary Clinton’s campaign on what to ask then-Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush in an interview, WikiLeaks has revealed.
In an email from September 2015 and published by the anti-secrecy group this month, John Harwood writes to Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta for advice on what to ask Bush when he interviews him the next day.
“What should I ask Jeb … in ‘Speakeasy’ interview tomorrow?” Harwood wrote to Podesta, referring to the name of his program on CNBC.
Other emails taken from Podesta’s inbox and published by WikiLeaks show a cozy relationship between Harwood, who also writes a New York Times column, and Clinton’s staff.
The revelation is the latest showing close ties between influential media establishment’s and the Clinton campaign.
Clinton’s rival Donald Trump has long accused media of operating as extensions of the Democratic nominee’s PR office.
